Every year, on the third Sunday of July, Venice celebrates the Feast of the Redeemer in memory of the overcoming of the tragic plague of 1577. The most important moment is certainly Saturday night, when in the magical setting of St Mark's basin a marvellous fireworks display greets thousands of tourists and residents celebrating in the boats and along the banks.

At the turn of the two world wars, Noventa Padovana, too, began to celebrate the Redentore (Redeemer) in its own right, and a large burchio (a large firework) accompanied the orchestra along the river, where traditional games took place. Today, on the evening of the third Saturday in July, Noventa's Festa del Redentore (Redeemer's Feast) has become a not-to-be-missed event with dancing, good food, and always original fireworks.

Residents flock to the banks of the Piovego River at the Chiusa di Noventa Padovana, and boats laden with tourists depart from Padua, who then drop anchor downstream of the Chiusa to admire the magnificent fireworks display above their heads.
