Fiori a Mirano, the longest-running flower festival in the Venetian hinterland, is an event dedicated to the pleasure of gardening, the knowledge of plants and their care, and the search for new outdoor furniture. On 25 April, Mirano is a destination for everyone: for those who love and practice gardening, for those who are just curious about it, and for those who simply want to take a relaxing stroll amidst scents and colours.
The central theme of the event is the Rose, in homage to the ancient Venetian tradition of the Festa del Bocolo, according to which, on 25 April, every lover gives his beloved a red rose bud. This is why, around Piazza Martiri and in the adjacent streets, you will find important specialised nurserymen, with a very rich offer of antique roses, collectors' roses, scented roses and new varieties from the best-known names in the sector, but also young nurserymen bringing new ideas and proposals, the result of a rigorous selection aimed at satisfying the desires of the 'most sophisticated and prepared gardeners'.
And then, among the nurserymen there is a secret competition to see who can display the newest, most fragrant or rarest varieties of roses on this day.
