Every year in April, in Oriago di Mira, between Piazza Mercato and Riviera San Pietro, an exhibition-market of flowers, plants and flower and plant-related objects is organised.
More than 100 exhibitors including florists, nurserymen, farmers and sector operators take part in this annual event with flowers and plants that come back to fill our homes and gardens with enchanting colours and spring scents.
Piazza Mercato and Riviera San Pietro are transformed for the occasion into a large pedestrian flower island, with the magical Riviera del Brenta and its Venetian Villas as a backdrop. A snake of stands snakes along the Naviglio, placing among the flowers also handicrafts, natural and organic products, gardening articles and accessories, and outdoor objects and furnishings.
Oriago has its own flower of excellence, which is the 'Hydrangea', a typical flower of the Venetian villas; the hydrangea welcomes the participating public, welcomes tourists staying at accommodation facilities on the Riviera, and is included in the table decorations of local restaurants.
