Villa Farsetti

Santa Maria di Sala (VE)

The construction of the Villa Farsetti complex began in the 1740s at the behest of Abbot Filippo Farsetti. The villa was built between 1759 and 1762: the result was that of a grandiose architecture of Rococo taste, adorned with thirty-eight columns from the Temple of Concordia from Rome.

In the central body of the villa, a round hall lit from above was ideal for a museographic display, considering that Farsetti's intention was to create a "superb museum" in the central part of the palace.

The exterior develops symmetrically longitudinally on either side of the central hall with a convex facade. Two smaller concave buildings are connected to the central body by means of porticoes. In the rear part are the barchessa and guest quarters. In the rear garden remain the cedraie and the remains of the greenhouses.

Today the Villa houses some municipal offices, but more importantly it is the scene of various kinds of events, art and stage exhibitions, theater, film and music events. It is also possible to visit the park and library.
