Villa Ferretti Angeli

Dolo (VE)

Villa Ferretti Angeli was commissioned by the Ferretti family from Vicenza to the architect Vincenzo Scamozzi in the last years of the 16th century. The Villa, after having belonged to the Rigoni, Angeli and Mocenigo families, suffered some decline in the early twentieth century due to wartime events, but was later restored by Montedison and, now owned by the Metropolitan City of Venice, was home to a high school until the 1990s. It now houses the Professional Training School of ENAIP Veneto.

The Villa has twin facades, one on the park and the other on the river, which run lengthwise: the architectural layout is based on a perfect symmetry of the parts, and the decoration of the two facades is also the same. Over the course of time, it has undergone several changes on the inside; several frescoes executed by painter Giuseppe Spolaor a few decades ago and decorating part of the ceilings have been removed. Internally, the original decorative layout of the villa has unfortunately been lost.

The manor house is completed by two Barchesse, annexed in the late 18th century, which housed the cellars and stables; the east barchessa has undergone recent restoration and is available for educational, cultural and dining activities. The aristocratic chapel attached to the building is currently undergoing conservative restoration. The large park bordering the bend of the Brenta, with centuries-old tall trees, can be visited.
